Beauties of Nature

Wednesday, December 14, 2005

The day after Thanksgiving my mom, dad, husband and myself headed down to Branson, Missouri for a little holiday vacation. On our way there we made a stop at Bennett Spring State Park. Bennett Springs use to be used for grist and flour mills. Today it is an ideal spot for fisherman to fish rainbow trout, or for tourist to view the 100,000,000 gallons of clear, cool water that gush from the spring each day. Bennett Springs State Park is the home of a privately-owned fish hatchery. The Missouri Conservation Commission introduced 40,000 rainbow trout into Bennett Spring in 1926. Today over 320,000 pounds of rainbow and brown trout are released there every year.

If you get a chance to view Bennett Springs State Park, it is well worth the trip.
